Hello, I'm Richard Ager and welcome to NH Outlook. For the third year in a row, the New Hampshire House is taking action to reduce the penalties for possession of Marijuana. On Wednesday, the house voted overwhelmingly to pass house bill 1653 which would effectively decriminalize possession of 1/4 ounce of maijuana. W'll take a closer look at this legislation in a moment, but first, here's some of the floor debate from Wednesday. |

Finally this week, Doris Haddock - Better known as Granny "D" has died. A life-long social activist, she became concerned about the role of money in our elections and so at the age of 90, walked across the country to raise awareness and support for campaign finance reform. At the age 94, she ran for the U.S. Senate against Judd Gregg. Bite: Granny D announces tape 04:42 For those who may doubt my capacity to serve, let me assure them that, while I may struggle for the right word from time to time, I can yet string my words together somewhat better than even our current President. And, while I need glasses for some reading, I can see clearly the difference between a necessary war and an unnecessary war, and the difference between a balanced budget and a deficit. Track: Granny D says while she is looking for votes, she also works on a broader task - educating and inspiring the voters of the future. EDIT OUT FIRST PART: Bite: Granny D campaigns tape 1 01:10:45 I am giving the voters a chance to choose a candidate who runs on ideas and experience, but not on expensive advertising. My chances for victory are considered very narrow, but this is how we begin great reforms. We continue to give the people a real option until the moment is right, and they go for it. |
